The day befoe the closing on my condo I found that there is a probate problem. Somewhere during the next 24 hours I lost the only signed copy of my husband's will( leaving me the condo)This was a month agon and I stll haven't found the orignal will. What will happen to me and the property if I have only unsigned copies?

Retain an attorney who can direct you as to how to probate a copy of a lost will. Good Luck!

Re: Lost will

Before the property can be sold, it will need clear title. Unsigned copies of a Will are generally not accepted as proof since the Will becomes effective at signing. If the will cannot be located, there are ways in which we can effect and record the transfer of the property anc clear title. Please contact me if you wish to discuss the particular details of your case.

Re: Lost will

First in whose name if the Condo?

Second, did you ever open an estate for your husband?

Generally, unsigned copies of a will are not acceptable. There are ways to effect a transfer of the property.

Do you know who prepared the Will for your husband? if so, they may have a duplicate original or a signed copy.

Please feel free to contact me if you have more questions.
