Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts

Reading of the will

I understand I will be given notice to attend the reading of the will of a late relative. I will most likely not be named in the will. Do I legally need to attend? And is a reading necessary? If I do not attend can I find the information at a later date? How?

Re: Reading of the will

No you are not required to attend the reading of the Will. If you are mentioned in the Will and have been given something the Executor should contact you. The Will is filed with the Probate Court so if you like you contact the Probate Court in the County where the deceased lived and request a copy which they will charge you a fee.

My condolences for your loss.

My condolences for yourloss. Wills are filed with the Probate Court in the County where the decedent resided at death and can be viewed there as public documents and copied for a fee or a copy may be requested from the attorney who is representing the estate. Good luck!
