Can we sell property before estate is settled?

Can property be sold before an estate is settled and the monies received be put in escrow? I'm talking about things like cars, clothing, books, household goods.

The Executor of an estate can sell property and use it to pay the bills of the estate and then disburse the proceeds. Sale of some assets will require a letter of authority.

It is possible. If the executor and the heirs agree, a partial sale and distribution can be made, as long as the creditors or potential creditors are not impacted. The other possibility is to ask the court for permission to sell. If you have any questions, contact me.
