Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts

sister died intestate

My sister died and I am her only surviving relative. She left three US Savings bonds in her name only and two with POD for her deceased son.

The total bonds amount to less than $15,000. What do I do to redeem them? Also, a car valued about 4K?

Re: sister died intestate

I am sorry for your loss of your sister.

You need to file a Petition for Administration of her estate to be named Administrator to transfer title of her remaining assets after debts are paid to her heir(s) under the intestate statute.

Good Luck!

Re: sister died intestate

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your sister.

If your sister's probate estate is less than $15,000.00 (and one automobile), you can file a simpler and cheaper Informal Administration of your sister's estate.

If you would like further advice or limited representation in performing the duties of an Administratrix, don't hesitate to contact me.
