Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts

Time Limit to Close Estate

My aunt died 3 yrs ago

The Executrix (my cousin) seems to be dragging her feet to close the Estate. All distributions have been made except what she has kept in escrow to close the estate (value unknown) We have to drag info ab the estate out of her in order to get any answers. Is there a time limit that an estate must be closed in the State of MA?

The short answer to your question is that you can file in court seeking an order to do a final accounting. In this filing you can describe what you said. Usually, the court will issue an order requiring the accounting to be completed.
