Legal Question in Workers Comp in Massachusetts

worker's comp - ma

Can I legally sever ties with the company where I got hurt as soon as their insurance stops paying me without feeling any repercussions i.e; them trying to tell me I have to pay back money ? Also, I'm afraid they may cry fraud because of circumstances before my injury, which aren't related at all, and I've already been discriminated against and harrased there by staff and management. This is a different issue, but I feel they will try to use information out of context against me in some way. What's my best course of action without this getting real messy ?

Re: worker's comp - ma

I'm not sure I understand the question. If your employer believes you are committing fraud they can use that to stop your benefits. If you are recieving workers comp benefits now they probably do not think you are recieving those benefits fraudulently. Once your well and are not recieving workers comp checks, you can find another job without any reprucussions from your employer as long as you are an employee at will, meaning you do not have a employment contract.

Call my office if you have any further questions.
