Legal Question in Consumer Law in Mexico

Contract Law and Hotels - Mexico

I stayed at a Wyndham Resort Hotel in Cozumel Mexico. I was told at check-in the price was $55.00 per day. The day before I left they informed the price was $85.00 a day. Isn't this illegal? Isn't this a ''Breach of Contract''?

When I tried to leave, refusing to pay the extra $30 a day, they physically grabbed my suitcase and yanked it out of my hands, told me I COULD NOT leave and then they called the Mexican Police! I am single female alone in Mexico - The idea of being in prison in Mexico terrifies me so I signed the credit card slip.

What recourse do I have now?

Re: Contract Law and Hotels - Mexico

Indeed, it is a Breach of contract. But it is essential to have the amount to be charged clearly stated in the contract or any other document to prove that the amount to be charged was 55.00 and not 85.00. If this is possible, then you can present a formal complain before the Federal Consumption Authority in Mexico(Agency, in charge of consumption services in Mexico).
