right to discovery

if i am being sued in a general civil matter. do i have the right to discovery if the person sueing me is my x-landlord.

That fact that he is your ex-boyfriend has nothing to do with obtaining discovery.

If, however, you sue in small claims court there is no discovery permitted. It is allowed in district court with court permission, I believe. It is permitted automatically in circuit court.

You can only sue in small claims for a few thousand dollars, district court for upwards of $25,000 and circuit court for only in excess of $25,000
