Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

Former employer had not paid my dues for more than a month

I worked for a company based at Chicago and my work location (i.e client office) is in Michigan. The company had not paid me two months salary and unused vacation time. Whenever I ask them, they say it'll be paid but they do not give any concrete date. What are my options to recover my money. The dues are more than $5000. Can I send my written demand by email or should be by mail?

Thanks

S

Re: Former employer had not paid my dues for more than a month

Regarding your past due salary, you may want to try the following option: (1) Send a letter by certified mail to your employer in a friendly but firm tone that the money is seriously past due and that you have given them sufficient amount of time to pay you; that if you do not receive the entire funds within 10 days of your letter, that you will proceed with legal actions to collect the money; (2) Contact your local labor dept and ask them how to file a claim against your employer for back wages; or (3) file an action against your employer in the nearest civil court.

I hope the above answer some of your questions.

Thank you.

Jay
