Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Michigan

bankruptcy

I paid my attorney in full, and my meeting with creditors was in November 2007. My attorney is not returning any of my phone calls, and my bankrupcy its still not final. How long does the trustee have to give his final report to the court? What should I due about my Lawyer not returning my phone calls and not helping me with my bankruptcy?

Re: bankruptcy

You don't say what chapter of bankruptcy you filed, but if you filed a chapter 7, your case should've been over by now.

Re: bankruptcy

This kind of thing often happens with bankruptcy cases because the court imposes low fees and the attorney really has to hustle to make a living. Your attorney should return your calls, but the question is whether there is anything to do on your case. You need to do the post-bankruptcy counseling and make sure that the certificate has been filed with the court. You also need to be sure that your reaffirmation agreements are in order, but otherwise there is just waiting for the 90 days and the court to issue an order. Best of luck to you.
