Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Michigan

Bankruptcy and State/Federal Tax Obligations

I recently closed my small business because of the poor economy. I still owe Business Sales Tax to the State of Michigan but I can't afford to pay it. The longer I wait, the more I'll have to pay because of penalty and interest. I am considering filing for bankruptcy because of all my depts. Can these tax obligations be included in a bankruptcy claim?

Re: Bankruptcy and State/Federal Tax Obligations

Greetings; Obligations owed to the State of Michigan are usually not discharable. Specifically, sales tax contribution is not discharable. In other words, bankruptcy will not help you with this problem. Thanks, atty. trichler; www.trichler.com 616-457-5100 I offer a flat fee of $600 for a chapter 7 bankruptcy.
