Banruptcy with an ex- girl friend
I co-sign a car loan with my ex-girlfriend we purchased the car in michigan. about a year ago she total the car in which she did not have insurance on it. she had to pay for damages to the other vehicle. the bank total the car as a lost. Now she files for bankruptcy and i have the creditors comng after me, what can i do to protect myself

Your options are to: pay the debt because you are jointly liable for the loan as a co-signer, or file bankruptcy. Whether bankruptcy makes sense depends on how large the debt is and if you have other debts. If you have good credit you're going to want to make arrangements to pay the debt. Once your ex gets a discharge she is no longer liable, so unless out of the goodness of her heart she wants to pay so as to not anger you, you are stuck.
