Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Michigan
ch.13 discharge help
I filed for 13 in 2001. I was desperate to save my house after a divorce. I have made every payment $330 a week for the past 3 years. I have received only one statement from court or my attorney. My house payment is totally up to date. And it has lowered 3 times in 3 years. I tried to talk to my lawyer but he blew me off and was only interested in his quote ''$170 dollars an hour'' My question is how can I find out what exactly is going on with my case. I did not claim that much debt. I thought that 13 cases were 36 months. He did say something about changing the case to a ch. 7 and be done but I thought ch. 7 was one that you lost your house? I have a 2 year old and a wife that cannot work to to some complicated health issues. I figured I have shelved out over 51,000 dollars and I know I was not 51,000 dollars in debt. Can someone point me in the right direction?? Thanks, Drowning in MI

Re: ch.13 discharge help
Depending on your current situation, you may be able to convert your case to a chapter 7. However, without more information it is impossible to make that determination. I offer free consultations. If you would like to discuss this in further detail, call me at 586-979-7302.
