Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Michigan
We filed for Chapter 7 and it was discharged in Feb. of 09. Unknowingly they put our house in bankruptcy too. We have made all the mortgage payments ever since. We need to know how the process works if we stop paying on the house since it was in bankruptcy? How long do we have to remain in our home? We are afraid they could tell us to leave in 48 hours.

Has the house been foreclosed upon? Usually after a foreclosure sale, there is a six month redemption period where you can still remain in the home. After this, eviction needs to be filed formally and this takes about two months. I would need to know the date of the foreclosure sale to help you more.
