Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Michigan
garnishement law
I just read your answer to the question about garnishment of a credit card debt. Mine is similar...I have medical debts, and have had my bank account (social security) garnished twice. The last time I had help paying the bills...this time, I don't, and it might kill me.
Interesting angle: law allows working people only 15-20% of their wages attached, yet those on monthly assistance can by law, have their 'wages' garnisheed 100% due to the fact that their wages are deposited in the bank, and MI allows up to 100% garnishment of bank account! FWIW.

Re: garnishement law
don't have your paycheck automatically deposited into your bank account - that way it can't all be taken before you use it to pay bills. and they'll do it right on the day you get paid too so it will be gone right away.
or, open another account - but they will eventually find that account as well, unless you have it in someone else's name.
