Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Michigan
Can you be served with papers after you filed?
We have filed for Chapter 7, meeting with creditors is Aug 30. I'm sure I included them all. I had a process server at my house i was not there and will be returning in the morning. Can the credit card companies still do that after they have been notified? Thanks

Re: Can you be served with papers after you filed?
If they were notified, then no, they aren't supposed to serve you, but perhaps they did not receive notification and/or there was a glitch in the system,i.e., they had already employed a lawyer to collect on the account and failed to notify them of the bankruptcy. Contact the lawyer on the paperwork and inform him you have already filed for bankruptcy and give him the case number. That should stop anything further.
