Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Michigan

Will Bankruptcy affect my future husband's credit?

Due to circumstances, I am going to be forced to file bankruptcy. I was wondering how this will affect my future husband's credit, if at all? For instance, if we go to purchase a house, will it be detrimental? Thanks.

Re: Will Bankruptcy affect my future husband's credit?

Your credit has nothing to do with your husband's. It would only affect it to the extent that he would have to apply for a mortgage, etc., in his own name, as your credit would result in higher rates, etc. So in that respect it would hamper him. Otherwise, simply because you are married, and you declare bankruptcy, it does not affect his credit or ability to obtain loans, etc.
