Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan
I am being asked to sign a non-compete agreement. I believe it to be very restrictive. It follows me throughout my employement and I would not be able to work for a period of 12 months in the industry that I work in. If I do not sign, I will not get my merit increase. What should I do? Can the company really do this?

Yes they can. Certain restrictions will be stricken by the court if they are unreasonable. Try to negotiate a less restrictive agreement. Kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz
