Can a company charge a family member for the debt of another? They are not married. Can a cousin be charged for another's debt?

Merely being a debtor's cousin would not make him liable, but he might be liable for other reasons.

Not likely, unless a co-borrower or guarantor. Only a persons probate estate is liable for debts. Visit me at kliszlaw.com to discuss in detail. Tim Klisz

As the other attorneys say, not unless the cousin was a guarantor of the debt, which does not appear to be the case here. Consult with an attorney in your area for specifics.
