Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan
My fianc works at a small bar in Michigan. Because of this, I will meet friends at the bar for lunch, or go alone and hang out with him and the regulars for a bit, and then I leave. The owners of the bar, at their last meeting, made it a "rule" that "significant others" are not allowed on the premises while the other is working a shift. I think this is ridiculous. I am a paying customer like anyone else. And I do nothing more by being there than anyone else in the bar does. Is this even legal? Could he be rightfully fired if we didn't listen? Any advice?

They can enforce this policy and they can also fire him for violating this. The employment laws are completely pro-employer and he really needs to ask whether he wants to work there.
