Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan
friend is receiving paychecks from a company he declined
Question Text: A friend of mine had offers of employment from company A
and company B. He chose company B, and told his manager at company A
that he will not be working there. However, he recently got in the
mail, a paycheck from company A, as if he had accepted the employment
offer
from company A. Is here required to pay the money back? Are there any
legal retributions if he is to keep the money?
Also, my friend told me that he signed something with the company. If
there is something there that could provide the answer, I'll look.
However, if there is nothing there to answer my question, what should I
tell him?

Return the money, is it worth getting sued over? For more info., please contact my office at (248)851-3171.
Re: friend is receiving paychecks from a company he declined
He should review the document he signed with a lawyer before he does anything with the money. If he hasn't done any work for company A, then the money was likely given as a signing bonus or some other type of remuneration related to accepting the job. He is most likely going to have to return the money.
