Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan
Hey,
I was thinking about starting a free online poker room. There would be no depositing what so ever. No money will be coming from the users at all. All money will be given from sponsors through offers and surveys. The users will then be able to gamble with thier hard earned money. Once they obtain enough, they will be able to cash out.
1. Is this legal?
2. What do I need to do to make it legal?
3. Do i need any lisence?
4.Do I have to make it a charity poker room?
Any other information would be nice. Please help with my situation. Thanks!

Unfortunately, Poker is a "game of chance" regulated federally, and on a state by state basis, while I think you get beyond the federal restrictions in your sponsor approach, it would run afoul of most state regs on games of chance. So you would have to be able to limit the participation by state according to each state's rules. This is a comprehensive compliance analysis not a law guru question.
