Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan

I hired a contractor to do the flooring in my moms kitchen. She is 87 years old, so I took care of all the details. When he arrived he assured me that the product would be glued down securely. Upon the first day inspection, the floor was moving all over in many areas, and I called him up to come and secure it down. He did come back, I believe it was within 3 days. After that, we noticed a spot under the table that chairs were rubbing over from just normal sliding to get in and out of the seat. A tear had emerged and was only going to get worse if not fixed. I called him up right away and he said "oh, sure, I will be over the next day." He never showed and we tried to fix it the best we could, by using glue, but it was not a professional job. Now its tearing in another spot and I think he needs to come back and fix the job he did not do properly or let me hire someone to fix it and then turn the bill over to this first contractor. Can you let me know if I am on the right track and where can I go to begin. My mother does not have plentiful money as shes on a fixed income, and she should not have to pay for this anyway, as it was not her fault. Thank you, I will be awaiting your reply...

Yes, warn him that you will give him one last chance to fix it you're going elsewhere and then suing him to recover those damages. Send it certified mail and have a deadline. If he doesn't respond, get it fixed and then sue him in small claims court.
