house cleaning business
In the state of Michigan, if I want to do house cleaning for private individuals do I need to be licensed, bonded or insured or can I just clean houses for people?

You don't have to be, but you can if you want to protect yourself. You can also choose to operate under a "dba" (doing business as) and file a certificate with the county you live in. If you want to incorporate, you do this with the state of michigan and then you must file corporate tax returns each year. if you are the only employee, it is probably easier to keep it simple and not incorporate at this time. if you expand, you should consider at least insurance and incorporating in the event that one of your employees steals or breaks something, then you will be protected.
thanks.
