Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan
Legality of contract for non registered Business
I recently signed up with ''Seven-One-Services'' to receive a set number of magazines per month for a set cost for two years. I was contacted by phone and I agreed to have someone come to my place of work to sign the paper. The representitive explained very little. I received the rest of my papers in the mail a week later. The monthly payments were to be twice as high as origionally stated and the term twice as long. I called customer service today and they said bluntly that I could NOT cancell no matter what. I looked up their company name on several better business bureau web sights and they are not registered anywhere. Is there any way I can legally cancell my account???

Re: Legality of contract for non registered Business
Yes, you can cancel the contract. If they got you to sign something that you didn't understand, the more fool you. If they didn't give you all the information at the time they got you to sign, the more fool them, because the deal wasn't complete. You have a pretty good case for fraud, so that's the way you go. Get a lawyer and have that person send a letter and give them a fixed date on which you WILL take them to court for fraud. Then, if they charge your card even once, take them to court. Chances are they would rather let you out, then have to disclose their entire operation in court. It's not a bluff, by the way, it's something you need to follow up on.
