Non-compete employment in State of Michigan
Hi,
My former employer had me sign a Non-Compete employment agreement which said I can not work for 3 years for someone in same field. A friend told me that my be more than allowable by State of Michigan. Can you kindly tell me what is maximum allowable numbers of years for non-compete for MI?

It depends it has to "reasonable..." under the circumstances and there are some cases in excess of two years, but they are the exception. But there are other factors to the enforceability, scope of prohibited work, geographic area, field, industry etc...
No hard and fast rule you need to negotiate a contingency plan in your next employment contract and have an attorney go over it.
