is an oral promise to pay anothers hospital debt enforcable
if my brother and I took our dad to the hospital emergency room and he had no insurance so we orally agreed to assume responsibility for the treatment as well as a surgery, can the hospital enforce our oral agreement to pay?

If they relied upon your promise to pay, then they have a valid claim. You can't offer to pay, hve them expend time and effort trying to heal your father, and then expect to be able to back out. They'd have to sue you and prove that you promised to pay, though.
