Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan
I might be getting sued for being in the right...
I make websites for people. I've had a client who takes advantage of me, where ever and when ever, and today it came to a head. She is always promising me payment for the work I do on her site. She pays me, here and there. This was to be the last thing I was going to do for her too. She owes me for the last major feature to her website. I billed her. I left for a week, on vacation.I came back and read my e-mail, she not only contested a part of my bill, but refused to pay as a whole and then in the same breath, said she had more updates to her site, and said she would need changed. I got fed up and pulled the site. She is bad for not paying and demanding free stuff. Her husband is a lawyer and called me and said he said pointblank ''is going to sue my ass off, for breach of contact and stealing their site.'' I did not steal the site,(its just blocked till I get paid) and she signed nothing she just has me do things as she wants changes. I do sites to put myself though school, I stood my ground and told him, as soon as she pays me it will be square. is he just blowing smoke on behalf of his wife?I can it be ''their'' site when I have yet to be paid?

You say she didn't sign anything. Did she at least sign something acknowledging the rate you would charge? I would probably recommend that you do the suing for breach of contract because she has not paid you, but you should probably contact a local attorney and see what grounds you would have to sue her for payment as well as whether they have any sort of right to the site staying up when you designed it (you probably need to speak to an attorney experienced with dealing with website issues).
