Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan
workmans comp requirements?
As a sole proprieter, am I required to carry WC on myself? I live in PA. and working in MI. My employer is telling me I have a document I have to sign excusing him of WC responsibilities.

Re: workmans comp requirements?
I am confused by your question. If you are a self employed person, how do you have an employer? Do you mean that you are a independent contractor? If so, you are not an employee, and obviously not covered by comp. It you are an "employee" you must have comp by law. I don't believe you can purchase comp insurance for yourself, but you should check with a comp insurance agent to find out. Visit my website for contact info. www.kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz
