Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan
Background Checks by Corporate Customers
My company recently issued a memo advising that all employees of our company could be requested our client customers to fill out background check forms (which the client customers make up). The client company would then have their own background check performed on the
individual (i.e., me) and report their findings to my company. My company says they will, ''as a condition of employment'', require we employees to submit as much personal background information as the clients wish and allow them to perform these checks. Is my company within its legal rights to ask me to provide personal information to their clients?

Re: Background Checks by Corporate Customers
Yes - as long as this requirement is not discriminatorily applied.
