Using the bible to be sworn in at court

Is it required to use a bible when being sworn in at court? If yes, how is this legal? If no, what are your other options?

At the time of evidence before judicial officer it is believed that you may speak truth thats why you are sworm by bible or any religious book. In different countires its different for examplein Pakistan you are sworned as follow

"I,.........sworn to God that whatever i says it will be true and just ture nothing else.If i conceal somthing or lie God will angry with me".

answer to second part of your question is it legal to speak lie? if no then why shouldn not sworn on bible.
