Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan
My boyfriend (Jason) was reciently attacked and assulted by our roommate (Matt). Jason got a PPO against Matt and changed the locks on our house. Matt's animal count went from two dogs and one cat to 2 dogs, 6 puppies, 1 cat, and 3 kittens. We understand that Matt has to be escorted by police to collect his things (and pets). BUT if Matt contacts police, he'll probably get in trouble for driving a truck (that isn't in his name) without a breathilyzer in it (just got off probation a month ago for DUI). What can I do about the 12 animals I have in my home? Can I take them to the humane society? Or do I have to wait to see if Matt comes to get them all. Or can I call animal control?

Do the animals a favor and take them to the Humane Society. Be sure to give the Humane Society a very generous donation for taking these unwanted animals off your hands and out of your house. Your question points out why only responsible adults should be permitted to keep pets. This doesn't sound like the case here at all, but Matt can go and recover them, if he can pass a breathalyzer, or get a police escort to the shelter.
