Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

Broken lease Agreement

My brother is the land lord of my home. He has asked my husband toleave on August 10, 2003 for reasons that have nothing to do with the home. Our rent was paid on Augt 8, 2003. The lease date starts on March 2003.

Our Agreement expires on April 1, 2006. We were told if he leaves my brother can sue him for the rent. Can he do this?

Also I pulled up information that the property tax name is held by two men, one who has been dead since April 9, 1994.

and the other is a friend of my brothers. On my lease papers is my brothers real name, my moms, and the friends name. Please tell me this is not legal. My brother can not use his name because he owes money to someone and any property or funds will go to the person he owes if he buys anything in his name.

Re: Broken lease Agreement

This is too complicated for the internet.

Hire a local attorney and get it sorted out. Your brother has no rght to control who YOU let in the house, and he cannot break a lease arbitrarily because he doesn't like your husband living there. THis is clearly a family matter, and it if takes hiring a lawyer and taking it into court to make people see sense, then that's what you do.
