Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

Credit card

My college (Davenport) is telling me I have to accept a credit card that I've repeatedly told them I do not want. It's a MasterCard called a Panther OneCard. They say that it will be my new student ID card and the only way I'll be able to get the refund money from my government loans now that they won't mail checks out. Can they really force me to accept it?

Re: Credit card

Accept the card. You don't have to charge anything on it. It's just the school's way of getting you to conform to the same protocols as all the other students for administrative purposes. It's computer is keyed to recognize you by your MasterCard number.

Don't let this slight infringement on your freedom keep you from an education. There are more significant compromises in your future that you won't like either.
