Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

DNA testing

To my understanding Michigan just started enforcing a law that would require anyone convicted of a felony, anyone in prison and some offenders of misdemenors to submit to DNA testing it cost the state $67 they are going to charge the person being tested $60. is the whole DNA testing constitutional considering that it is an invasion of privacy? If they hold your results for further criminal investigations should they as well be able to provide that information and use it for paternity testing at the inmates request.

Re: DNA testing

I think a giant constitutional challange, such as the one you are contemplating, is best handled by constitutional law scholars. Some volunteer their time for the ACLU. If you know of anyone in that predicament, writ e the ACLU. Maybe they'd be interested in taking the case.
