Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

I think i'm gettin screwed over
I live in hartland, michigan. On my way home from redford, michigan, 5 of my friends and i got pulled over. I wasnt driving but we were all intoxicated. The cop had no reason to pull us over in the first place, but after seeing the girls license and registration decided that it was expired by about 3 days. He then asked if there was anythin in the car and we told him that there was alcohol. He searched the car after having his dog jump all over her brnad new car and scratching the paint. he found all of our alcohol plus a half an ounce of weed and a bowl. He told me that if there was anything else in the car he would take me to jail for it. The reason he took me to jail was because i had a pack of papers in my purse. My dad had to come bail me out of jail for 500 dollars and i then got a ticket for open intox which one of the kids in the car claimed all of the alcohol as his. Did he have a right to take me to jail for that? and was my bail at the right amount?
