My boss has been teasing me about my weight. She said I looked like iwas pregnant, rubbed my stomach and asked me when was the baby due. Made comments that she knew what I wanted for christmas food. said i was very ample etc. I wanted to know if I have a case? I wanted to complain, but I was afraid I would be retaliated aganist

Michigan does protect employees against discrimination based upon weight.

However,just because the protection exists doesn't mean, as a practical remedy, that you should file a complaint with the Michigan Department of Civil Rigths. If you do, you will gain protection offered by the MDCR and the Whistle blower's Act against retaliation. Money damages at this stage are unlikely.

However, if you work closely with your boss, whatever camaradery you have with her and your co-employees may be substantially diminished. Chances for promotion may be equally affected.
