Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

Harassment

Fired from job for ''having contacted & made life threatening intentions that would do harm to another employee.'' Wouldn't tell me who it was ''for fear of their lives.'' Said person in fear was to have filed Civil Rights Suit & went to police. This was on 9/30/05. Have never been contacted by ANYONE. I'm still in shock! Have worked for company for 11 years. DID NOT DO THIS! Is there any recourse? Have a very weak Union. Please help me?

Re: Harassment

This is a very complicated situation. First, since you are unionized, file an immediate union grievance, no matter how weak the union. My guess is that since you are unionized, you have a clause in your collective bargaining agreement that requires good cause before firing you. Therefore, you may be in somewhat good shape on this issue. See a good employment lawyer. Feel free to give me a call. It sounds very unfair. William S. Stern
