Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan
Harrassment, Wrongfully Accused
Hope you can point me into the right direction.
Live in town and have 2 dogs. Same neighbor keeps complaining to the cops.
Feburary 2005- Dogs are not being fed. Police come, and report nothing is wrong.
March- They call the animal control, stated the dog was aggressive. That was proven untrue.
April-May- Few complaints that dogs are barking at night. Police report at night, do not hear dogs.
Aug.- Told police that there is an odor coming from our yard. Police come, see its untrue.
Sept.- The same cop, who has been handling the problems, who happens to be the cheif of police, came to my house and stated that the same neighbors complained of the dog barking again. And that the villiage manager, ''Wants me to write you a ticket''. I then stated to the cop, ''How can you give me a ticket when we have not broken the law?'' ''I dont know, I guess I cant, but the manager wants you to go in front of the village council.''
Im trying to make a long story short, but our dog has been in everynight. I have witness there grandchildern harrassing the dog, and in our fenced in back yard, etc.
We tried to have a meeting with them but they refuse. We want to file harrassement. Please help us. Thanks.

Re: Harrassment, Wrongfully Accused
You can file a civil suit. However, you may want to see the county prosecutor to see if you can get them charged with filing flase police reports. William S. Stern
