Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

What laws refer to defamation of character

A young man filed a false police report about me. My reputation was in question and he said that I swore and threatened him. I did not. I did not even opened my mouth to this young man. He is lying and slandering my character.

What recourse do I have?
