Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

Legal rights as registered owner of a vehicle

I signed over the title on a vehicle to my ex-boyfriend almost a year and a half ago only to recently find out that he never followed through in transering the title with the secretary of state. I've been advised to take possession of the truck until he agrees to meet me to sign off on the title and take legal ownership, but I need to know if I have to have some sort of proof that the vehicle's still registered in my name when I go to take possession?

Re: Legal rights as registered owner of a vehicle

Unless you want to be charged with larceny or UDAA, leave your ex alone. Whoever advised you to "take possession" of the vehicle is an idiot or malicious enough to want to see you in jail.

You have no legal right of possession.
