Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

neighbor harrassment

My neighbor is presently honking her car horn for 30 to 60 seconds on her driveway, which is adjacent to my side of house lot line, and then driving around to the front of my house and honking again for 30 seconds, drives to the end of the cul-da-sac, turns around and again honks in front of my house before exiting the street. Two rude messages have been left on my answering machine by this neighbor and once she came to the front door and frantically rang the doorbell for about 30 seconds. I don't answer phone nor door. She has also gone to other neighbors and told them I was a rotten neighbor and was mentally ill and was trying to drive her crazy. This is all because she thinks I'm opening her automatic garage door when she's trying to close it, She claims to have had service guy out who told her all was fine and that it must be me. She also doesn't like my sons playing basketball on the driveway with their friends. It makes too much noise and she has threatened to call the police on all these issues.

I don't want to sue or anything, just want to know if anything legally can be done to stop this harrassment. I just want it to stop and go away.

Re: neighbor harrassment

If you don't want to sue, you can document the harrassment by taking pictures of the caller ID, taping the car horn honking, etc. Then, go to the police and have her cited for disturbing the peace. Bill Stern
