Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan
Parent has Mental Health issue, social worker kids are at my workplace
My dad is a disabled veteran and goes to a new mental health clinic where one of the main social workers happens to have kids at my wifes preschool where she teaches. He found out that she was one of her parents and in conversation brought up the fact that her kids go to the same preschool his daughter in law works. We find out she calls the preschool and says that one of her patients is related to a staff member, and since the staff is close they knew it was my wife and she was honest and said so. The owners then proceed to almost fire her and say that they need a picture of him to put on the wall for staff and to go over what he looks like with other staff or she will be fired. I don't see how this can be legal, one he hasn't broke any laws. two he has never threatened anyone associated with the clinic or preschool. It is very demeaning for them to force my wife to do this and just not right to put us through harassment when trying to help my father get well. My wifes job has nothing to do with my father. If anything is to happen with this and she gets let go, is this legal what they are trying to do. I think it is slander or something. You can't post someones picture and say watch out this person could be dangerous.

It would help to know what your father is being treated for and whether he has ever made an appearance at the preschool.
You should realize that the school's insurance company may be prompting this action.
