Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan
I a person rents a house and has a party where someone leaves intocicated and injures another person, can they sue the person that ownes the home or only the person that rents the home?

They can sue everyone, but probably only collect from the person responsible for overserving a visibly intoxicated person. If there is a special relationship between that person and the owner of the property, such as a parent, then liability could be extended, especially if the partyers were underage drinkers. Whoever purchased the alcohol could also be liable if that person knew or should have known it would be provided to either a VIP (visibly intoxicated person) or underaged drinker.
