Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan
I recently filed a PPO against my boyfriend's ex-wife and the judge granted it ex-parte. Now she has gotten a lawyer and is saying that she's taking me to court in order to get it overturned. I'm not sure what I should do. I clearly had sufficient evidence as to why I feel intimidated/threatened by her, I mean, the judge even granted it ex-parte. Do I just bring the same evidence back into court with me? What can I do to make sure the PPO stays in place?

It's not clear why your boyfriend's ex-wife would WANT to be in close proximity to you. Perhaps you work together, or your kids attend the same school. There are valid reasons why a PPO (granted ex-parte) could or should be lifted or modified. You can make sure the PPO stays in place by having an attorney review your claims and evidence and present your case to the court in such a way that if valid, the PPO will remain as is.
You likely need an attorney to handle it, as you are going up against an attorney. I am handling one of these in Wayne County right now. Visit www.kliszlaw.com to discuss. Tim Klisz
