Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

We rented a facility for a birthday party and the owner failed to tell us they had a gas leak in their building. When we walked in to set up, we didn't smell the odor from the gas and none of our guests that arrived 10 minutes later did either. My sister came in an hour later and said she smelled gas. I told the employee and she said they had a gas leak and that is why the door was open. The owner came out and opened the door further and walked away. It is winter so I asked them to turn on the heat and the employee said they couldn't. I don't think any of us realized how dangerous the situation was. After I got home, I thought about what could have happened to all of us. I emailed the owner a letter and he stated that consumers energy came out and fixed the leak and cleared the building and we were in no danger and the door was only open as a precaution. I called consumers energy and they informed me that the owner called in to report the leak at 10pm on Feb 18th. Our party was at noon on Feb. 18. The energy company also informed us that any gas leak is a critical situation and yet the owner put us all in danger and even let us light the candles on the cake. Something like that could have caused an explosion and hurt/killed us all. What should I do at this point? Do I have a case against the owner?

Unless someone was actually injured or sickened, there is no case.
