Yes. Why wouldn't you? Police are there to protect people and the community. Not cooperating or having a bad attitude is not the way to go, regardless of whether you are innocent. You have no idea why they are asking for your name - they could be looking for someone that fits your description, or are perhaps using this chance to find out if you have any warrants, etc. - just like when someone gets pulled over for a broken taillight, and they discover the person doesn't have a license, etc. If the cops are simply asking your name, and are not harassing you unnecessarily, then provide them your name. Giving false information or failing to respond is illegal.
