Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

rights to privacy in my condominium

We own 4 condominiums in a multi-unit complex on Lake Michigan. We use them for our personal use, for friends, relatives and as rentals. The Condominium Association Board insists that they have keys for maintenance purposes and emergencies. I believe this to be an invasion of both my privacy, my friends, and that of the people to whom I rent. I have offered access on notification, but they want unlimited access, although any maintenance is the responsibility of individual owners. There are about 80 units in 2 different buildings. We are the only ones who have refused access.

Re: rights to privacy in my condominium

It boils down to what is in the condominium agreement. Check it out. If it is silent on allowing others into the units, then you are on solid ground. As far as overturning such a provision, you may win on privacy rights but if you look, the right to privacy is implied in the constitution and is nowhre explicitely mentioned.
