Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

sharing photographs without permission

My siblings and I were adopted around 1950. We finally all met in 1997. One sibling has been difficult. I clearly severed all ties with her in 2006, after learning that she had told harmful lies about me since 1997. I told her in email to stay out of my life, and that my decision was permanent. I recently learned that in late 2008, she copied lots of family photos from an elderly aunt's computer to a CD. These included photos of me, and of my boyfriend, my daughter, and grandson - none of whom she has met, I refused to introduce her. She then sent copies of the CD with all the photos, including those of me and my family, to other people. My other sister let me know about it when she received a copy. I am furious. This problematic woman knew perfectly well that I would refuse to share these pictures with her. I feel like this was a gross invasion of my privacy. Is there any legal recourse for me? Is there a way to stop her from forcing herself into my private life? Thank you.

Re: sharing photographs without permission

This is perfectly legal as I see it. The person lawfully obtained the photos from a relative who also lawfully owned them. If she were publishing them for a profit, that would be different, but this is for private use. I would try to move on. www.kliszlaw.com Tim Klisz
