Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan
squatters rights
I have lived in my home for 30 years. there is a large parcel of land behind
me. We have been doing the mowing of this property the entire time now someone has began posting no trespassing signs on this property. Can they do this or do we own this land under squatters rights?

Re: squatters rights
If you have used the property openly (e.g. crops, buildings, wells, storage) and continuously for 15 years and have paid the property taxes on same, you have a case for adverse possession.
If you have mowed the property openly and continuously for 30 years, you may have a constructive easement which would allow you to continue that activity.
